I'm a noob. I just bought two RXP's. One is a 2005 & the other is a 2008. Both are 215hp models. I am wondering what the differences are the 215hp & 255hp model? Is the 255hp engine larger or what? Thanks guys.

The difference is about 40hp. :D

The 255 has an external intercooler and a bigger compression wheel on the supercharger I beleive. So they are the same basic motor just minor differences. Someone else might be able to go into internals if there is any difference.

Also the 05 supercharger had ceramic washer which were bad as opposed to the metal ones in the 08. Do you know if these have been changed?

+1. However, the 2008 metal washers are junk IMO. 2009 and up are the proper washers from the factory. The ECU map and the injectors are also different between the 215 and 255. 2008 was the first year Seadoo used good quality valves. Anything 06 and earlier and you might want to check up on your exhaust valves. It's also a good idea to change the flywheel bolts on the 2005 to something stronger like ARP.

Imo the biggest change to thr rxp-x was the pump tunnel....it got bigger. Yeah the bigger wheel and ex ic are nice...but if you can't keep the pump loaded...you're back to runnin a modified '07and earlier...great on flat water...but any kinda wave?...forget about it.

I've had a couple of these blocks apart ... it blows my mind that these 3 cylinders can make 255 hp ... wow.

My 05 has the upgraded washers. My 08 has never been touched. I am going to rebuild the supercharger on the 08 since it has 113 hours on it. Thanks guys for the feedback as I am still trying to learn all I can about these things.

or 500-600 HP with a full blown setup

while the aftermarket does add value and obviously impressive you get a huge loss in reliablity. 255hp out of 1500cc and 3 cylinders and maintain a decent warranty thats marketable.
