Dess Lanyard Programming won't work

Hi Everyone,

Recently I bought two new OEM Seadoo lanyards for my 2005 Seadoo GTI and 2005 Seadoo GTI LE-RFI as the old lanyard cables were fraying and falling apart. I decided to get new ones and took them to a local PWC shop to get them programmed. Technician got the GTI to take the programming but had no luck with the LE-RFI... Wen he conected the equipment for some reason it would not communicate the MPM. He did state that these I could bring them back next week and they it might work. Seeing that I got charged even though they couldn't get them working, I don't think I will take it back to the same shop. I also hate to take it to another shop to get the same results... charge for nothing.

Anyone have any suggestions or ideas? As I'm a gear head and like working on everything myself, but the cost of equipment and license fee for BUDs makes it not affordable to purchase.

Thanks.

I’ve heard that from several dealers. They say they might be able to program the keys, but it depends on what kind of mood their equipment is in that day...

Westside Powersports does key programming, but you will have to send the E-Box in to them. They will get it working for you though...

Why is that.. these two have been solid and easy to work on. Must be what they call planned obsolescence to make us buy new ones :) Mine still look great and run great and 50 60 mph is fast enough for me and my friends.

Good thing I have the original lanyards(chips) for these two, and just replaced the cords. I was just wanting to have kept them as backups in case one got lost.

Just amazed me that they will charge you anyway even if they can't get it to work. IMG_20130504_144137.jpg

Thanks for this info... I might go this route when lake season is over for the year.

Issue is they don't want to train their technicians on the old 2 strokes. I am probably one of the last ones who had his engine replaced by the local dealer in 2015. They screwed up the rotary valve and the carb.

You can also buy the CanDoo but it costs $400 USD.

A guy locally helped me reprogram my new key and had trouble programming mine too. We had to play with the cord from the candoo a bit but then it worked. It’d be a cool investment to buy one...$50 every time you reprogram a key for someone.

Same thing technician at RideNow had to do.. he kept messing with their cords ...replaced the batteries in their device. Only to tell me that this was normal... weird.

Yeah..... all the reason I'm glad to be a gear head and work on my own stuff. Might be a nice investment to buy one so that I can run my own diagnostics too.
