depth finder transducer installation-2001 challenger 2000

Hello, just wondering if anybody has any pics or info as to where to mount the transducer for my depth finder. i never bought one just let but in the process. i have read lots of threads on mounting inside the boat which is awesome but my main reason for the depth finder is to get the water temperature. In this case the transducer must be in the water,OR is there anyting a person could install on this boat just to read water temperature. I have researched a hawkeye product that is a portable held hand sonar depth finder and also reads water temperature just by pointing it into the water. No reviews on that yet. Thank you in advance for your opinions.
