My dealer tell me I have to de winterize my 2007 Seadoo GTI 4-tec because they are prone to quitting the first time out after running for 100 ft at the beginning of the season. Is this true? He say a valve or something sticks and they run 5 gallon of gas through it. Secondly how do they run the gas through it I thought it could only be on a hose a short time.

DO NOT RUN YOUR 2007 GTI ON THE HOSE FOR 5 MINUTES!
That seadoo has interloping cooling and it will over heat quickly. Never run a interloop cooled seadoo for more than a about 2 minutes on the house, to purge out the exhaust system like after salt water running. The engine relies on water on the ride plate to cool it. Unlike the older 2 strokes, this engine only cools the exhaust when running on the hose. You will also do damage to the jet drive bearings and seals too as it requires water to keep them cool too. To properly de-winterize your seadoo, Change the spark plugs, charge up the battery, start it up on the hose to allow all the anti-freeze to not get dumped in the water on first use. You should have used environmental safe anti-freeze, but not everyone is aware of that fact. Collect the old anti-freeze and dispose of it properly. Remember to lube the throttle body also. Check all the cables and the Jet pump gate for operation. You should be all set after that.

On all the 2 strokes the cooling systems run through the engine for cooling. On a 4-tec most all the newer ones have a inter looping system that require the seadoo be in the water for cooling. No outside water cools the engine. The cooling system is internal with anti-freeze for temp control. The only cooling from an outside source is the exhaust system. I run my 2008 200 speedster for about 15 seconds on the hose after I put it up on the lift. The transfer plates for the engine are under the hull of the boat on each side to cool the engine. As a premium member you could go to the manual section and look up different manuals and see how different the new and the old seadoos are.
