I trimmed the plug wires back 1/4 inch the took it for a run and it still has a high speed miss in it. I'm thinking it might be one of the coils. Is there a way to test them? Here's a video not sure if you can see it. I will try to post it.

Did you ever inspect the pick-up coil? It could be loose on it's mount, or covered in metal filings.

No I didn't drhonda. Is that behind the magneto cover? If it has filings on it what's the best way to clean it?

I'm in my semi heading back to Detroit. I wanna find as much out about this issue so I can jump on it tomorrow when I get home

The pick up is on the Magneto cover on the front of the engine. Youll need to get the engine up a good bit in the front to clear the front motor mount or just take it off. Once it's off there is enough room where you can run your finger over it to help clean the particles off. You could also put a zip lock bag around the stator and use compressed air to blow it off. Just tape the bag around the stator. Did you check the plug wires where they enter the coil, are they loose?

The other think you need to do is figure out why you have an aquarium in the hull. It took me a long time to find it but I had a water leak coming from the base gasket on the starboard side engine which prompted me to rebuild that engine--didn't need it but since I was putting a new base gasket on, why not. The reason I stress the water is, with those drive shafts slinging water the carbs will injest the vapor. What does water vapor do to metal--rust. Which could inturn seize a bearing or a ring from sitting between uses. Now if your religious enough to fog your boat after each use then you might be OK. Keep us posted.

Wow. That sounds like a big job cleaning the pickup. No sir I havnt checked the plug wires in the box yet. As far as the water. When i stop I can hear it trickling in somewhere on the exhaust side of the boat. I put a new hull exhaust gasket on last weekend so I know its not that. Maybe my pipe has a pin hole in the bottom. Thanks for the suggestions. Gonna look at them tomorrow

Thanks for the heads up on the rectifier. I'm assuming the red wire your talking about is in the big grey box? Again sorry I'm not I front of my boat. I'm in my semi.
