Follow-on but separate issue than my post earlier this week. Changed solenoid today and tried turning the 94 657 GTX over. No response.... jumped across the two top (larger) posts and it turned over fine. Battery is still running strong so charge isn't an issue. I hadn't tested the new solenoid before I put it in so in my continuing wisdom I decided to apply 12v to the bottom two small posts to see if I could hear it click or turn over. Not using common sense to think that I had all of the wires attached I reversed the polarity and the little alligator wire clips got really warm fast. After realizing what the hell was I thinking, I had to wonder what I may have just fried. While I was thinking about what I may have done I got to looking at the kill switch on the left handlebar and pressed it with no movement. There was a slight crack in the rubber so I pulled the rubber back to see it was rusted and stuck depressed. Thinking this might have been my problem all along I cut it off at its two wires and tried it again with nada. I checked the fuses and noted the 5 amp fuse blown so I replaced it. I tried starting it with the kill switch wires not touching and touching with no change. I also noted it blew the 5 amp fuse again. Any electrical smart fellers have a "check this first" option.
