Last year, after the winter my staboard engine didn't have a spark. I did a complete search on what it could be (10 hours) and I brought the boat to the dealership. They confirmed the MPEM was defective. I was lucky to find a used MPEM dated of 2015 for 1600 Canadian ( about 1100$ us). The guy just bought it last season for 2500$ Canadian NEW at the dealership and crashed his boat two weeks after.
The boat have been running really well since then. Everything work well! So I'm kind of bored because I like to wrench on the boat! (my last project ( beer). So Lately with all your MPEM story I'm still worried about the new MPEM if anything happen. I know how rare they are and I can see the price going up every year. So today I decided to try again my old MPEM that I almost put in the garbage two months ago on the boat. I plugged the old MPEM and a miracle happened!
Both engine work with my defective MPEM!!!!! So I'm wondering why????? I have two explanation:
1- I forgot to hook up the Staboard ground . but keep in mind the engine was cranking up..... but just no spark
2- I had moisture in the MPEM
What do you guys think?
The good news is that I have a spare MPEM now!
