Crankshaft not interchangeable?

I’ve been researching to see if the crankshafts would be interchangeable between a 95XP 717 and a 2005 GTI 717 and from what I’m seeing for part numbers they are not? The 95XP crankshaft is part number 290887200 and the crankshaft for the 05 GTI is 420887868. I get many superseded part numbers for each with figments for different machines but when I search the part number for each crank I never have other part number show up. Would anyone know why the 2 do not interchange and if there’s a way that they could?

WSM 720 crank shows 95 - 04
95…could be a 1 off ?
I seen that during my search, it doesn’t seem they interchange, I’m going to check out the part number for the PTO, maybe it has something to do with that. There’s no parts catalogue on seadoomanuals.net so that makes it difficult to cross reference. I seen a 2005 GTI for sale, ad says the crank is spun, not sure what that means, but I have an old 95XP here that the crank may be good in.

As far as I know there were no changes. There was a strange low performance 720 at some point but I don’t recall what all was different.

Go to RIVA Seadoo and under OEM parts the diagrams go all the way back to 1988.

I will have a look at Riva tomorrow and see if I can figure out what’s different with the 2 crankshafts. The seller describes it as a spun crankshaft, I messaged and asked what it did and they only replied it spun. Do you have any idea what the term spun is referring to?

That would be my guess, out of phase.

I wouldn’t even consider it, but it looks pretty clean and I like yellow in my Seadoo’s I really really don’t need another Seadoo but honestly it really is some type of compulsion. I literally have to force myself not to buy them, but I want to have a little fleet of 6 or more of them that are in excellent condition before they don’t exist anymore. I think I’m 10 years from now we are going to see the price of the X4 hull Seadoo’s explode as they become harder and harder to find in excellent condition. Anyways , I’m ranting on, I will give this some thought and maybe make them an offer or maybe not. I’ve seen some video’s of hammering on these while in a jig to put them into phase but I wonder why it went out of phase in the first place? Maybe a sudden stoppage due to some type of engine failure and binding, and then even if I were able to get it back into phase would it possibly move again?

My wife has that same aGTI.
It is the largest 2-stroke hull they built with only a 720. It is dry, stable and bulletproof but only good for about 45mph. She absolutely loves it.
That one is really clean!

Cranks are going to be the same, even WSM shows same crank from 1995-2004.
OEM
290887200
290887862
290887867
420887867
421000074

All = WSM 010-1017WSM.

I can't see why 2005 would be different.

Yes, I remember. Your wife has the 2003 I believe? And I have the 2002 that’s pretty much identical. That’s the one my wife drives too. Super stable, I’m 230 and can put both feet in one foot well

I hear you but I can’t find anywhere that says the crank will work in the 2005, cases are different part numbers as well. Thanks for the replies, I’m not worried about, if I make an offer it will reflect that it needs a new crankshaft either way. I can take my time and figure out what will work and I have to I wIll just wrap her up, put her in long term storage and wait for that machine to come along with a bad top end. I will post what I find in regards to why those crankshafts are different
