I have a ceca00241997 challenger 14.5 ft. ( motor tag M4828012 ) 787 rotex 2 cylinder bombardier jet 5603 that is spilling water from port side rear cylinder corner. The owner was geting rid of many things cheap so he could tear down the garage. he wanted $1000.00 for boat & trailer. I put a battery in and it started after sitting for 2 1/2 years. I offered $800,00, he said ok. got paper work done, backed it in the water, started it, then saw the water spilling, called owner back and knocked off another $200.00 (sale $600.00 ) Now what do i do? I have had a lot boats ,out boards & v8s. three days owner ship and this rotax needs some research. I got this boat for my wife. I need some good advice. one guy at the lake said the rotax was junk and only lasted three years, onther said i could slap one in in three hrs, another said the those motors are not worth fixing-just put in a new one. does the rotax motor need a trained rotax installer ? what would you in my place? if you would replace motor ,would you go to yhree cylinder? little more power.I also here some ratleing noise in the impeller area with water hose hooked up ,thinking a bearing replacement. or do i put it on the street for sale and get money back? thanks guys Ron p.s. how much are new motors and link to find. or can cylinder be welded.
