Hey guys,

I am looking to get Skat-Trak impellers for my '96 Speedster. I have the 720's in there and I want to know what the best pitch is going to be for this boat.

I am more concerned with hole shot and torque than I am with top speed, which is why I am going with the Skat-Trak.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, should I replace the wear ring with a new impeller even if it seems to be in great shape (very smooth and perfect gap with the stock impellers).

Thanks,
Richard

Thanks for the info. Second question: Are the swirls worth it? almost $500 for the pair :S
well yes, considering the OEM`s are almost always more.
The OEM impellers are a decent compromise of getting the boat up on plane quickly and having decent speed to keep things fun.
The aftermarket impellers are far more efficient in the way they process the water for thrust and output.
similar to gearing in a vehicle. if you were modding a ski or tuning a craft to perform in a specific range/rpm choosing the right pitch can make a huge difference depending on your goal...
pulling a tube or skier or top end gains.

Currently I`m running 2 Solas 15\23 Concords in the challenger 1800 and really like these impellers...
They replaced a set of 17\22 skat swirls that the PO had installed, the boat had issues and could not get on plane without major cavitation. It turned out to be misaligned engines, air leaking from the carbon`s, and poorly installed pumps.
all fixed now... but I felt the smaller pitch Solas impellers would be a better fit based on my experience with using both brands in several machines...

give Dave over at IMPROS a call and see what he recommends, their pricing is pretty reasonable to!
If you do call, tell him I said hello!;)
