I just replaced the VTS module and put everything back together and now when I attached the lanyard I get a constant beep (on land). The LEDs on the display cycle though normally and go out. I checked the temp. sensor: reads open. I unplugged fuel & oil sensors separately with no difference. Touching the starter turns the engine and the VTS seems to go up & down alright.

Any suggestions?

Over heatings...

The constant beep is for over heating. You said you tested it, so try this. Get a small gage wire, stripped on both ends and pull that wire from the sensor. Put a stripped end in the plug wire and the other end to a good ground, then try it without being grounded. If the beeping has stopped, you have a faulty sensor.

Your suppose to check it by putting it in boiling water and checking the continuity as the temp increases. Any way, what I've described is a short test.......give it a whirl.
