So I have a couple of questions and first I would like to say that I love this site. I have owned two seadoo's in the last two years bot 1998 Sportsters 1800's. I had one cylinder on one of the motors that had 85psi and the other 145. I removed the top end and was going to replace the whole top end. However, I got to looking and the cylinder wall is not beat up at all and is still very smooth. Just the top of the piston was shot. So can I just buy the pistons and gaskets and be done with it. If so how do I tell if it has been bored or not? Also, I have so many other things I would like to learn about but am having a hard time searching anything on this site. For example if I do a search for keywords top end I get nothing. I no there has been several threads dealing with the top end so am I doing something wrong?

the site search capabilty is not that great. use google or whatever search engine you use and put a site qualifier on the search ex; Topend rebuild site:seadooforum.com

Awesome I had no idea how to do that with google that's great thanks. I have searched top end rebuild but not site specific so hopefully I can get something to pull up. Thanks man

For those wondering Google search is actually built in now for members with larger screen resolutions on the right hand side.

If it were me I would remove both cylinders on that engine to have them bored. You can get a bore done with pistons and a gasket kit for around 300 bucks. I would use Full Bore a lot of the members on here use him. I had great luck with both the top ends he has done for me.

Keith the interior guy in Clearwater is hooking me up with the kit including the jugs gaskets pistons ect.... for just a little more than 300. Just gonna go that route. I would rather give him the business hes been pretty good to me.
