hello
to do a compression test on a 1996 720 GTI are these the correct steps? 1) pull spark plugs 2) put plug wires on grounding posts 3) screw in tester
4) hold throttle wide open and crank engine until needle stops moving on gauge? thanks Randy

Hello, it looks like I don't have those ground posts to put my plug wires on to do my compression test.can I leave the plug less wires just hang there and do I have the gas turned off?

The two metal pins on the bracket on your mag housing. Right next to your serial tag.

So it looks like I'm missing the posts that go on the metal bracket? Can I put the wires on there anyway? Also do I want the gas turned off?

Have a look on the top of your electrical box where the plug leads come from. On my GTI they are there.

Just a little piece of plastic will still work fine it's just grounding the wire

I thank you Sir, for your prompt responses and help. one other thing about this flushing process, I see they want you to use some hose pincher . how do you do yours because I don't have one but could pinch the hose of with a clamp of some kind. right. I bought this GTi 2 weeks ago and test rode it on the river and haven't had time to ride it since because of long days at work. I might get to go on it tomorrow but then storms will hit and next weekend a high of 62 degrees. I'm learning about these watercrafts and have a motorcycle and used to race motocross in my day. I'm 56 yrs old but still like to play :-) I bought this to ride the grandkids on it . When I retire in 4 yrs I want to spend the money and buy a nice fishing boat, so didn't want to spend a lot on this pwc.
