Surprise!....

The vid kinda surprised me, since it was said that "youtube" removed it from their website by the Associated Press.
If it will make you feel any better, your only one of millions who have been outraged at this video and from what I read in the news media, it is being investigated. There is talk that it is a hoax, that the dog wasn't really killed, but if the military identifies him and the incident was real, he'll be facing a courts martial............So, feel at ease, he'll get his do...

The soldiers name is posted up all over Youtube.
What a dick head.

courts martial....

What I saw of it on the news, the military was looking into it and if he can be positively identified, they were going to court martial him........:nopity:

Commanders....

Their own squads and company's will take care of them. When I was there, if you did anything to draw attention to your unit, you either got pink bellied or at night, they'd throw a pillowcase over your head and beat the hell out of you with soap wrapped up in a towel............!
He deserves worse....

Soap wraped in a sock would hurt abit.

Or a poolball like in the film Scum.

He will probably get a conduct unbecoming and at best a general discharge. A dishonorable is the better way as he would loose all vet benefits. I agree he is a cubic douche bag!!

From a Marine

It is very sad and horrible. I haven't seen the video but my girlfriend told me about it. Apparently the puppy was dead. Either way its still messed up. You do have to realize though as horrible as it seems this is a horrible place and there is by far worse things going on here. people die everyday(not coalitionforces related) and the way of life here is very different and a lot more cruel and harsh. Wild dogs are all over the place and are a serious problem. you see them on the sides of roads and running wild fighting and eating dead bodies or other dead animals. there not like dogs back home. even strays back home. for the most part there all infested with bugs and diseases and are very matted and a lot of them have serious problems. of course depends on the area and the time but i know orders have came out to shoot them to weed them out for multiple reasons(stopping the spread of disease and because they give away CF possitions at night) the iraqies shoot them and eat them all the time. I'm not in anyway shape or form sticking up for the marines that did that. when i heard about it it made think that its easier to do my job knowing that if i hear a marine dies i can think it was one like that and its easier to move on and forget about it. i cant wait to come home and sometimes i think i miss my dog more then my parents and girlfriend but just keep in mind that the military takes care of its own and they will be dealt with by other marines. its just the way it works. in the meantime just try to realize that the majority of places i go have dogs there and i've actually went on patrols while wild dogs would follow us the whole way in and the whole way out that stayed at the FOB or EPB i was at. the majority of marines like them and treat them good. far better then they would do on there own. its a shame but like i said this is a really horrible place at times and its a shame and very sad but the iraqies kill them on a day to day basis.iraq is a bad place to be a dog :(

just dont wish things and say things about stuff you dont understand and cant relate to.again not making excuses but those marines could have been out and there position could have been given away by wild dogs like mine has been several times and who knows one of their friends could have died. its not very likely but you never know. you just shouldnt judge if you dont know

...

oh yeah...
the airforce has airmen
the navy has seaman
the army has soldiers
and the marines are marines

we dont like getting called soldiers.... :)

Titles.....

hmmmm, I remember it as Air Force were "airdales", Army were "Grunts " , Navy were "Squids" (bubbleheads if you were on submarines) Marines were "Jarheads" and Coast Guard were "Sissies" because they were afraid if they lost the site of land........LOL
All kidding aside, if you read one of my first couple post, you'd see I'm in total agreement with you. Unless you've been in the military, you have no idea what's truly happening.
We just had a reunion of my "brothers", who most I hadn't seen in 25 years. But when we were together again, it was like we never left. They all know, to this day, we got each others back. And if anything ever happens to one, it affects us all!...........Insaneta, your still young and growing, but I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about....already.
This dude that did this "will" be takin care of by his own. If it hasn't already happened. He brought humilation to his unit......that's not accepted very well in our world.
Had he not glorified it and posted video, there would be nothing to it. The atrocities commited everyday in some of the areas around the world are just un-real. We worry in America more about the cruelty to animals, more than we worry about our own kind. I've seen in the paper where someone was shot and killed in a robbery, then on the other side of the page, an article where a dog was set ablaze (now protected under the "Gucchi" law) and that dog got more editorials and public outcry than the person who was robbed and shot..........that says alot about our priorties.
Insaneta, take care of your brothers, there are many out here who do understand. Come home safe, and bring them all home with you.
Those brothers I was talking about during my time in the military, were considered "snipes".....hence my nickname. You may come home, but you'll never leave.

new and old agree. (not that your old and i dont consider myself new :) )hopefully everyone will read and understand. its true you dont really know until you've been there... :-/

Age....

Yeah, your right.....I'm not quite 50 yet and I'm sure your a few years over 18, but getting older does have it's rewards. When I was your age, I'd spend my entire paycheck trying to get drunk and shoot pool.....now, I'm trashed on two beers, so I have a lot of paycheck left over......and I don't play pool anymore, can't see straight down the cue withouth my bi-focals on.

Toys....

My toy then and for over 20 years there after, was my motorcycle.....Man, did I dump some money in then..........
I think you said 28 days left.......do they still use the term "two digit midgit" Where your time is so short, you have to parachute out of your bottom rack (bunk) to land in your "boon-dockers"?.............
I stayed at sea so long that for 10 years after I left, when at the dinner table, I'd just shake my hat over my food to salt it!...........

i'll be home to the states in 21 days but home to md in 28. you gotta love the saltiness... no one else would understand that though....

Great!....

I'm sure that is a day you dream about and have been for some time....no more camel spiders.........
Just remember, you can't do everything in one day! and giving your pooch some quality time should be a high priorty. Was mine. I didn't have to listen to the noise of someone talking......just someone wanting my love and affection...............

yeah shes a littleblack lab named Ally. i got her a couple months before i left so i didnt get to spend to much time with her. she turns 1 a couple weeks after i get home. i got her for my girlfriend mostly so she'd have something while i was gone. i'll be glad to get home and take her out fishing and swimming. i take her to this pond so she can chase the ducks. shes the sweetest little thing. i got a picture of her with me on my rxp. i put a towel on my lap and just let it idol. shes a good girl

Omg....

That's unreal!............mine is a black lab too!....She's about 14 years old now. She's getting grey in her, but she still follows me around the house, everywhere. And she wants to go ridin with me all the time, but she can't hear anymore and she has arthiritis.....Her name is Alexus.
Let me see if I can dig up a pix.....O.K....I found one. It's a couple years old, but you'll see her age.

Hey guys, the last few post is what our mother land is all about. Brother hood is deeper than just being friends or neighbors...or members on this forum.

wow

what are the odds of that. mines just a little thing still. shes a nutt. there really sweet dogs and very eager to please. mine isnt a pure bred though. i'm pretty sure shes mixed with a german shepard. shes all black except her back foot has a little bit of white on it like she dipped it in paint. shes def keeps everyone busy back home. i'll be glad to see her. thats crazy the similarities though. names are close and everything. there great dogs. i was surpirsed normally i cant load anything(pictures or videos) but it actually let me load your photo. very nice

in the military the longer you have a job or certain rank your considered salty. i'm sure that saying comes from people being out to see for awhile and the salt collecting on you maybe from the mist of the ocean but today its more widely used as a term of seniority...lol
