Changing your oil

For you guys that do your own maintenance...I'm assuming that you have to suck the oil out so who makes a good pump? I'm not worried about price and I want something that's going to last and is configured to minimize the chances of a spill.

Any thoughts on the one PWCMuscle carries?

Yes, on seadoo watercraft you need to suck the oil out of the dip stick tube, as with most boats actually. The pump I bought and use is this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000JFJM14/ref=s9_simh_gw_p60_d5_g263_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0MA0710S60B4Y7SYWM2C&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846

I've used it for the last 3 years and it works great and seems quality built. Easy to use and very difficult to spill, etc. I think it is also the one pictured in the seadoo shop manual. Anyway, I highly recommend it.

Also check out this thread it may help a bit: http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?49692-Oil-change-and-tune-up-questions&p=246286#post246286

If you have any other questions about changing the oil just ask, it is really simple if done right.

Dont waste your time with the cheap pumps from walmart, I bought one looking to save a few bucks and its does not work at all, just suscks air.

Use something similar to this. As mentioned..you get what you pay for. I've used this and it's really works well. No oil spills and you can take the entire container to the recycler.

The oil debate rages and you'll get as many answers and opinions. This year I switched from Mobil 1 4t to Rotella T6 synthetic. Night and day difference IMO . I will not be going back and paying the premium for Mobil 1. It's only $20 for the jug. I've learned , to each his own applies on this topic.

on types of oil, from what I understand the non-supercharged engines can use any oil; conventional or synthetic. I usually use a good name brand semi-synthetic. Now the supercharged engines need conventional dinosaur oil only, synthetic oil can ruin your supercharger by causing the washers to slip too much. search the threads for supercharger and oil and I'm sure you will find a wealth of info.
