I have a 2002 Challenger 2000 with the 250 Optimax jet drive with a real problem. The engine bogs down and smokes for no apparent reason. This problem has been on-going for the last 3 years. I have spent thousands at the dealer replacing exhaust plenims, fuel pumps, spark plugs ect, etc, etc. Every year I pay good money to have it winterized and de-winterized. Late last year I had the plugs replaced. the engine ran well first time out this year for one day. The next time out (about a week later) it ran for half a day and then bogged down in the middle of Lake Huron. Fortunately, we were able to limp our way in at just above idle speed. If you give it more fuel it starts missing and bogs down. I am out of money and patience with this boat and the dealer. Anybody else have this same problem with their Optimax? Any info would help. I'm desterate. Thanks

Well, I found my own problem. The marine mechanic never changed the air filter when servicing. A lousy $4.00 part. Hard to believe that this mechanic never considered changing a totally plugged compressor air filter during service intervals or even after I started having issues (3 years). He's as useless as this forum. Hello! Anybody out there???? I'm Glad I'm not paying for this.
