Challenger 1800 help!! Carburetor problems.

Okay so we set the arm springs with the 80 gram spring, flat across and installed the carbs back on. We put the airbox on and set the adjustment screws to stock settings.

Along with a Brand new battery. Our old one kept losing its charge within a day. The tag says it was made/bought in February 2016. It didn’t seem to be weak for the first few months of owning the boat (we even tested it). But now it’s just losing the charge. So we bought a new one. Don’t know if this would have any relative effect on the problems? Anyways.

We plan on taking it out for a spin tonight and seeing how it runs. I’ll let you guys know how it turns out! Thanks

Okay well. Here are our new symptoms. I will post in a chronological order.

First- as soon as we got out of the wake zone we accelerated slowly and it was running good. No bog yet. We got up to 5k rpms and was good. Then we pushed the throttle open more and our passenger side engine stayed at 5k while the driver roared up to 7k.

Almost 5 seconds after, our drivers side engine suddenly died while running at 7k. Almost like a loss of power.

So we started it back up and got back up to 5k rpms. We pushed the throttle open and now both engines are staying at 5k!!

Drove around and tested, checked the obvious. Saw nothing wrong. We pulled the chokes out at 5k and the engines just bogged down (so not running lean if I’m correct)

As we came back in to put the boat up our drivers side engine wouldn’t go above 3k rpms. Not really bogging just wouldn’t go above that.

Then as we pulled into the boat dock, the drivers side engine wouldn’t even start/ would run for like 5 seconds.

While waiting in line for the ramp- our passenger side engine started dying periodically.

So we limped onto the trailer and headed back home. With no idea except the thought of electrical problems. The carbs were running great the whole time?? The engines were acting like it was losing power. Plus, the fact that the drivers side engine started acting up only when it suddenly died.

I tried to upload some videos of the symptoms but it wouldn’t let me.

Any help is very appreciated.

I would check all of your fuel line fittings, strainer and fuel valve if you have one.

New spark plugs, trim the plug wires back 1/4" and put the caps back on. Also have you cleaned the RAVE Valves?

All fuel lines fittings to the carbs are in good condition. The fuel filters looked in decent condition but we will check again. We cleaned all 4 RAVE valves and they all had 2 slots in them. (I checked again after racerxxx asked).

Will put in new spark plugs and trim the wires.

I have a fuel valve and it turns on and off freely but how would I test to see if this is good or not?

Here are some videos of it.

First one is when they’re both running at 5k, watch till the end and you’ll see the drivers side randomly die like a loss of power.

Second one is when the passenger side is at 5k but the drivers side is at 3k.

Third is when the drivers side just kept dying.

Fourth is when the drivers side won’t start/won’t stay running for more than 5 seconds.

After this, the other engine started acting up and eventually wouldn’t start/stay running like the other one did. (This one almost acted as if it was hiccuping/losing power)

I wish I had a video of when the drivers side was running at 7k and then just randomly dying, then starting back up and won’t go above 5k but oh well.

Anyways- Thanks for all your help. Any suggestions are needed as always.
