Read something about changing the ceramic washers to metal "riva's metal washers" in the supercharger. Anyone heard why....vibration, cracking...?
If so sounds like a big job. Has anyone actually done this, cost, did you do it yourself?

The ceramic washers break apart and could destroy the oil pumps. I've done several of these for my customers. It's easy with the proper tools and a manual.
What's your location?

Chester

ceramic washers

Hi Chester,
Thanks for the response on the washers for the supercharger. I'm in northern manitoba and have the shop manual. What special tools do I need? Can you send any pics of what to do or reference a page(s) in manual? Also how much are these washers and how soon should I get them changed. have about 40 hours on the motor now. Dealership in Thompson said there are no bulletins outy on it yet
Also some other questions. I want to do an oil_change and they sell an oil change kit at the dealer in Thompson but the kit comes with semi-syn. 10w-40 oil. Dealer says supercharger system takes conventioanl 10W-40 which of course is more expensive (go figure), something about the additives in the syn. destroying the supercharger? Any advice on this and do I need special tools as shown in manual, reverse torx?
Dealer also mentions changing the "grease" in the jet drive system which requires tear down - possible water contamination. Should I be doing this too?
Thanks,
Dennis

No, you do not. The changeover from ceramic occurred during the 2008 model year. Some early '08's apparently still had ceramic, but by the end of the model year, ceramic was gone for good. Anything after '08 is guaranteed not to be ceramic.

When I had my 2009 180SE 10 hour inspection and oil change done this year the dealer mechanic used the semi-synthetic oil. I questioned it as the manual says not to use synthetic. The dealer confirmed the semi-synthetic is OK although full synthetic is not. I have the invoice in case this is a problem down the road, however it may be best to double check this with BRP.

P.S. timhood - I am glad to hear my 2009 does not have ceramic washers - I was wondering about that. Thanks

You should get the ceramic washers out as soon as you can. Seadoo recommends rebuilding the charger at the 100 hour mark but the ceramic washers should come out immediately.

Check out a website called 4 tech performance, you can pull the charger yourself and send it to them to rebuild. Had mine done in the spring worked out great. They have a great how to thread to help you pull the charger and will get it in the mail to you the same day they receive it.
