Just looking for some advice wondering if anybody has run into this had a hard time getting the jet assembly off because someone had used a black rubber sealant and pretty much glued the unit to the Hull after I did get it off as seen in the photos below I believe I will have to replace the wear ring because the plastic piece that sets against the seal is gone. I also didn't know what seals the bladder lines that go in the top above the jet unit is there a gasket or something that goes in there?20200716_123529.jpg20200716_123519.jpg20200716_123424.jpg

The reason you have black silicone on the pump is to seal the baler lines and the main cooling lines from the jet pump to the hull. If this area was not gobbed up with silicone, water with leak into the hull if the jet pump was submerged (parked at the beach)

You will need a new wear ring and a “neoprene seal” and silicone for the tubes into the hull.

What would use for silicone? I read somewhere to put the ring in you should freeze it overnight anyone have opinion on the best way to put it in? Do you use any glue or sealent when you put it in?

The wear ring should be a press fit, so no glue or silicone. The pump itself requires a neoprene seal between it and the hull rather than that glob of sealant that was used before. You will need to use a bit of silicone around the cooling fitting and bailer lines when you put it back on though...

If the housing isn't deformed to holy hell you can lubricate the wear ring with wd40 or something similar and set it on the jet pump and tap it in with a block of soft wood (pine) and a hammer.

Just received the new wear Ring and sorry if this is a dumb question but what end goes in and what end seals against the hull. The side with a rubber seal looks like it would go in to the pump and flat side with holes would go against hull for the gasket to seal against? This is all new to me. LOL

so rubber part is the part you push on when putting in,and when your done your looking at the rubber seal and cant see the holes?

Correct. Once it is installed all you should see is the rounded side. That is the side that is going to seal on your Neoprene Seal.

ok got it, I think. LOL any trick on putting new one in - watched some videos and they taped the old one out with scerwdriver and hammer from back side and froze new one and taped in with a block of soft wood but wondering if wood could mess up the rubber part of ring?

You’re fine to tap it in if needed. Sometimes they slide right in and sometimes they take a little persuasion... It just depends on how long they were in the freezer and how the dimensions on your particular pump were set.

it looks like I may have to take the prop out, The last person who was it there used alot of black slicone it is really hard (not flexible) and they use alot of everything even the wear ring.
