Afternoon fellas,
I recently bought a 93 sp, its in fine shape for its age, very clean.
Im trying to go through it before I take it out. Its got a 580 with single carb,
as im sure many of you know. Im in the process of replacing the fuel lines,
as well as the cooling lines and removing the oil injection.
While running the ski on my stand with the water hose, I noticed that the engine hesitates when given gas. Also it remains at a very high idle after
cracking the throttle. I checked to see if the throttle spring was returning
back to the idle screw without hesitation, it comes back fine.
Im sure its due for a rebuilld, its been sitting for a few weeks and the fuel
in the tank doesnt smell that great. At minimum I plan to clean the carb.
My question is this, what actually causes these conditions within the carb?
Just wanting to know for my own reference. Thanks
