Hello happy boaters, one & all! I need some help here... I don't know what these things are in the engine compartment/hull. They're an inlet or something on both sides of the boat, right behind the gas tank cap on the right and the oil tank cap on the left. I've got the shop service manual on CD and can find absolutely no reference to them. No pics, no parts, nothing. I don't want to start removing the foam anti-noise panels if I don't have to... can someone identify these things and tell me what they're for? The boat is a 96 speedster, you can see the pic of it as my avatar. Thanks for the help gentlemen! Here are the pictures-

I believe that is where the water hose goes when you want to crank your engine on dry land.

I think you may mean the flushing connectors? Those are on the back of the boat right up under the swim deck. They're female connectors where as these are males... but I'll look into that possibility as well! Thanks for the reply!

OK- just got a call in about that.. guy said that they're flushing connectors as well. So does this mean I can connect hoses to either the ones on top (in pics) or the ones underneath the swim deck as well? And why doesn't the service manual (@$#%) say anything about this?!!

If I'm not mistaken, yes you can use those to flush as well but with those connections you have to use pinchers somewhere along the line on some of the hoses. I'll have to take a look at my owner's manual and see what it says but i know it is in there.

Ok guy's those connections under the sun deck, with the chain on it is for running it on the hose. You shouldn't use the one on the rear as its the over flow fitting. When you connect the hose to the top fitting, any extra water pressure the engine doesn't need, comes out the rear hose connector by the jet pump. There is no need to pinch off the water lines anywhere. Just remember to run it on the hose like all the other seadoo's .
Connect the hose and start the seadoo. Turn on the water after it is started. Turn off the water, than shut down the seadoo. This way it won't allow water to back flow into the engine through the exhaust due to no back pressure from the engine not running. The bearings and seals on the impeller jet pump are cooled from being in the water. When it is on the trailer it doesn't have that cooling effect so they will get hot after about 5 minutes.
I pre start my seadoo's too, dry before I leave for the launch too. Just for a second or 2 to be sure it will start at launch. Peace of mind is worth lot.

I hope this answers your question.

Karl

Flushing Connections

Sorry Karl,
I just have to let you know that what your saying about the different flushing connectors conflicts with the manual for my boat, or is it different with other boats?

I learn something new every day. Mine had only the one up top. mine is older it is a 1995 seadoo sportster. I was hopeing I had one under neath, because someone had removed mine to install fuel primer. It may be tucked away in engine compartment I have not had a need for it yet as I only go in fresh water. Some times brackish but boat ramp will be at fresh water so I beleive it gets a good flush on the way back to boat ramp.
