Hey guys.. i've been on here before in the past and got some great advice so im back! I've owned a 96 and 98 xp sold them and kinda liked both. The 96 was sporty being rather short and fun to spin around, but then I loved the power of the 98. Im looking at buying another used ski and can't decide what to go with this time. First I thought I def want another xp with a 951 and spring seat bc i loved the power and hull design.. then I just found a 2000 RX for 2800 bucks yesterday but have never ridden one and need some input on them. It has a 951 with trim and figured it would be kinda like the 96 just more power? Then I keep goin back to my original plan of a 98 or 99 xp. Any tips or advice...any thoughts on the rx?

rectifier/regulator....

The biggest downfall to the 951 is the rectifier/regulator is built into the mpem. So, if you have a charging system failure and the rectifier goes out, you have to replace the entire mpem.

If you have a 787 RFI and it goes out, it's about $50 bucks or so to replace.

So, that's about the only tip I can offer you..............

Your in Jersey, I'm in upstate NY, if interested reply me back. (PLUS) I probably have almost 8 or 9 more seadoo pwc's that I will be selling come spring including a Yellow & Silver w/ Black hull '01 RX DI w/ 68hrs $3500 (like the above '03, never had a wrench turned on it).

I've got seadoo skiis sticking out of my ears!! help me out! lol

Cheers

Thanks but unfortunately my budget only permits me a certain amount, and the gf as well lol.. im looking in the 1500-2800 range. the 00 RX im looking at is the highest im willing to go at 3000.

Ive just never ridden an RX and trying to get some input about them. Its not a DI but just an 00 RX...

I hear ya on the budget and g/f. I'm sure you will love the sport (again) with whatever you get.

Seadoo RXDI

I friend of mine who I use to ride with had an 01 RXDI. A far as I know it was a great ski, I rode it a couple of times, & over all was pretty impressed by it. If for some reason I was in the market for a ski in the future, I would for sure consider an RX provided it was the right deal.

Top Speed, ........your posts would be best suited in the "buy/sale/ and trade" section. With the yellow banner hanging up and the skis sitting in what appears to be a sales lot, this can be interpreted as dealership advertising. In the forum, there is an arrangement you can make with the administrators if you'd like to advertise your Seadoo lineup with us.

It's in upstate NY right now, not sure in Jersey where you are but from here I can make the Geo Wash Bridge in ~4.5 hrs. The ski just came in and the new engine (we are putting in) will take about ~2 weeks, we have a bunch of other ski's to deal with first that buyers have a paypal deposit on. (my personal '03 GTX 4-tec project that I posted here in this forum) I slated for 1 month (or two) so it's customers first, then 'me' or my partner last ;)

I was just trying to help a fellow brother out on an earlybird sale. Actually I sellout all my preowned ski's (most locally and some ebay) but I don't actually start selling until May when the prices are more "seller friendly". -AND- if you noticed these are not "my posts" they are "my replies" and starting a thread with a post would be an actual ad (which I'm not doing but thanks for the sorta-tip)... remember I own & run a BB forum too :)

Sorry, I should of added we are mainly in this b/c we love the sport (we both have jobs). This is a side thing for us (buying & selling) I would say a hobby that "sometimes" mends a small profit but more for the joy we get out of the people we meet, help out & ride with.

Kool beans then, got no beef with seadoosnipe (or anybody else) he's just doing a forum duty of keeping threads on track and clean :)

Anyway we are now into PM land!

My son bought a used 2002 RX (35 hours), rode it for a couple of years and then had to sell it. In my opinion it is one of the better designs from SeaDoo.
Looked good, rode great, handled great and had no problems. This was all in salt water use. Now he wishes he had kept it.

oh i know.. i have no beef with him either.. he gives some really good info...and thanks jet.. but thats the problem im havin now lol..i wish i didnt sell my xp lim. lol. tryin to decide between being selfish and havin a sporty ride like the xp.. or something like the rx which is sporty but comfy for the gf also. im at a deal w the guy with the rx. 2800...just needs battery n cover. nice trailer and low hrs. hmmm.

You know, I think you might have a good point. YOU didnt' open the thread and are just answering a reply. I think I'll have to put that in my "moderator" book. That the advertising should only apply to a thread started, not replied to...........

Seadoosnipe- Keep the forum threads clean and to the point, I''m for it!! THANKS!
As said I'm not a 24/7 seller, this is a hobby and sport that I love :)
My g/f says I'm just addicted to buying these things, scary thing? I think she's right!

OK- now back to the gwg2580 wanting/buying advice RX/XP
I like those "smaller" crafts for short outings, jumping etc. bigger fun in a smaller boat (pwc)!
--BUT-- in the long hauls or touring, cruising (like we cross Lake Ontario ~70miles or so, stay overnight then hit the 1,000 islands) we as in my whole possie prefers the larger GTX or 3 seaters (even though we all ride 1up!).

So just to let you know, the newer larger pwc's are very comfortable, handling is so easy even a cave woman could do it and they provide a different outlet to the sportier XP's you are considering. Some like both so yes they own both (as in a car & p/u truck in your garage, they serve different useful purposes).

It (if you call it an argument) could go on forever (which make/model is better?) but it's more focused on your type of usage. The XP that your considering will be major fun especially in calmer waters or short riding in rough ....really great workout ;)
