So i found a sportster online, its a 2001 135HP LE. First off the price is 5900, do you think that is fair or do you think she needs to come down some?

Second is there are some problems with the boat. She said the fuel guage stoped working. I figured that is probly either just a fuse or it could be the float or whatever reads the level in the tank is stuck or broken. Anyone know how much that is to fix?

Second the boat will start in Reverse or Drive and i guess its not supposed to. No big deal to me, but how would i fix that? is there a sensor somewhere near the shift lever?

Third, she said the stereo will cut out from time to time. Im thinking this will be an easy fix since im pretty confident with home/car audio.

Anyways, let me know what you guys think. is it a good deal? or should i just pass it up and wait for another to come along? i mean all the stuff seems very minor and it doesnt seem to be an issue of abuse.

Evan, Welcome to the seadoo forum. I checked the price of the 2001, 15' Sportster 130 HP at www.nada.com and the boat with the trailer comes at the book price of $5280 to 5900. in TOP condition, it included the trailer. You didn't indicate if it has a Bimini or a full cover so I just checked it with the trailer. If the fuel guage doesn't work it could be the guage or the float or both. Gages and floats aren't cheap for that model. The guage could run like 180.00 + and the float might about 125.00 + check you local dealer for repair prices. you can use it as a bargaining chip to get the price lower. The boat should not start in gear. The mpem (Multi Purpose Electronic Module) that controls that, won't allow it to start in gear and should beep 4 times to indicate it's in gear. It sounds like someone has by-passed something.
The stereo cuts in and out ...it might be wet and need replacement to correct the problem...figure it will cost about $200.00 for a new stereo. Use this information as bargaining chips to bring down the price, or I would have her get it repaired to make the sale fly. Good luck.
