Burnout exhaust after sucking up weeds and fishing line

Hey there, I am new to boating, and new to SeaDoos. I went out the third time after I bought the boat last weekend and apparently sucked in a bunch of weeds and fishing line, and now the dealer says I've burned out the exhaust and need a whole slew of repairs to the engine.

Can anyone tell me why there was no warning that this was happening? What signs should I look for when driving (RPMs etc.) to know that somethings wrong? Shouldn't there be a warning buzzer or something to tell you the engine is overheating?

Man, I guess it's true what they say, a boat is a whole in the water you pour money into :-)

Im pretty sure the ECM should shut the motor down, indicating high temp, what did the dealer say about that. You should have heard the motors labouring when the crap got in there.. or stereo to loud?
