Guys, I am replacing my coolant, (215 SCIC) and wondering if I need to look for BRP brand (part 219700362) antifreeze, or if I can run a standard automotive, aluminum engine compatible brand like dex-cool ?

I see lots of threads on what products to use for winterizing, but we don't really winterize here in the desert. I'm not seeing much discussion on what brands are best to run in my cooling system, year round.

Thanks in advance, John

Automotive is just fine. If I were in desert I would consider water wetter. I run it in track bikes but do have to change it out in fall cause of winter temps. U wouldnt have that prob though.

Thanks bmann, the stuff I drained looked really good, (been in there 2+ years) it was green....I drained the engine while cold....then flushed with a few times with a hose....

Do you think I need to stay with a green colored antifreeze? (same color as what my dealer had installed) in case there might still be residual inside the block? I did put the boat on a pretty good slope toward the aft, and let it drip for 15+ minutes before flushing, just not sure about how much might stay within the engine block while the t-stat is / was closed and I have heard bad things about mixing colors?

Thanks again for any insight or advice you might have

J
