Both skis run real rough? sat all year.. diagnostic help appreciated.

Ok so i have a 2005 rxp and a 2006 RXT. I have had the turbo chargers rebuilt on both when i got them two years ago. I ran them all summer with no issues. I had them parked in an enclosure all winter.

I put a new battery in the RXT and a new solenoid in the RXP. The started right up at home. took them to the lake, got them in the water... made it out past the 5mph bouy. gave them gas and bogggggggggg.

I immediately thought ok this is spark plugs. I have had the issue before.

I changed the plugs. started them, they sounded great. However, both bogged again.

I noticed the rear cylinder in the RXP is wet. I mean it was real wet. scary to the point that i was thinking possible head gasket. However, I always think the worst, so I have to start small and work my way to it.

Any trouble shooting advice. these are both real clean and ran great when they were stored. i have been injured so today was my first time out.

I am going to pull the plugs again tomorrow and see how they look. What can go bad from sitting? and it is both of them. I did not winterize them.. they did have some gas and oil in them but i started them once a month with no issues. never ran more than 30 seconds... just a start, a throttle bump, and a shut down. that order that fast.

Soo any diagnostic ideas or ways to check items will be very appreciated.

How old is your fuel? They won't run very well on 1 year old gas.

How full is the oil? If it is to the top or slightly above the full mark, they won't run very well and can cause the plugs to be wet with oil. Halfway between marks is ideal.

Ok ... so i went out and pulled the plugs.... none of them are wet. None of them look fouled. Almost sounds like a fuel issue? does not make sense though. they start no issue at all.. they adle fine.. they are rough under throttle. very rough.

maybe i should run them in the lake for a while until the old fuel is diluted enough? throw additive in the fuel? ideas?

Oil level looks good. looks clean too. I just had it all changed last year and they have had maybe 8 rides on them with the new oil. again no wet plugs after changing them and restarting them.

I put 11 gallons of premium in the rxt and 12 gallons in the rxp. i always run with seafoam. So the fuel should be stabalized.... well you hope.

The RXP rear cylinder was wet? Do you mean the original plug was wet? Wet with gas? Oil? Water?

And with new plugs that symptom is gone?

yes with the new plug that symtom was gone... it was wet with oil... looked like choco milk which made me think "oh shit" sure sign of head gasket... however, it seemed more exterior than interior... in other words looked like it was more in the plug area that in the cylinder if that makes sense...


With that said... UPDATE--- I replaced all the plugs, and went and got the trusty elixer fixer "seafoam". I poured a bottle in each tank and carted the skis to the lake.... They rode perfect. no issues all fixed..

I will grab some more seafoam (i usually always put this in my tanks) and probably change out the plugs again after a couple more rides. This is the year for a major winterizing... so that will come in October.
