hi my boat was wrecked parts hoses cut and even starter stolen lights broken its a 1996 challenger single 787 single. no leaks the battery was stolen leads cut off gas caps taken and all seats were cut i was wondering can i run boat with mixed gas because the oil resevoir was cut all hoses and also stolen. also the electrical box above the gas tank was cut and stolen was wondering if its even worth fixing,if so can i just run the bilge pump and starter to start engine .

You can run with mixed gas but you have to fill the rotary valve gear cavity with oil. It might be just as easy to restore the oiling system for full function, certainly not terribly difficult.

The remainder of the stuff is horrible, the world has gone nuts. Sorry to hear someone has done this to your boat.

If someone stole the e-box and mpem, you might want to collect your insurance check and move on. Used mpems for Sea-Doo boats are expensive and getting harder to find. By the time you replace all stolen and vandalized parts, you will be farther ahead finding another good running Challenger. Sorry about your misfortune

Unfortunately at this point it will be less expensive to replace the boat rather than buy the individual parts to repair it. Between upholstery work and the MPEM, you’re looking at as much or more than a whole running boat... On a good note, it’s a great excuse to upgrade to a twin!

Makes me sick to hear this. File a police report and keep an eye on ebay. There are only a few MPEM's for sale at a time for those.

I’d give Jess or Nick a quick PM and have them be on the lookout for anyone trying to hock one as well. There aren’t too many outlets to unload parts like that anymore, so they’re as likely as anyone to run into it...

Really sorry to hear this. If it's any consolation you just help me make a decision. Been thinking about parking my boat and trailer where I stay at the lake but was concerned about theft. It's staying at my house after reading this. I'll just burn the extra gas Towing it. Scumbags!!

Based on what your saying...and "ruffly" what parts are going for. 1996 is getting harder and harder to find parts for depending on the part. The MPEM can be swapped for a ski one, so it will be a little more easier to get. But your still looking at spending at least $3k...maybe more. But I don't see more then $4k based one what "you" said you needed. If it doesn't need a pump assembly it should be closer to the $3k.

Depending on the market where you live that boat almost mint with a bimini in great shape, taken care of seadoo trailer and hydro-turf installed is only worth about $4k-$5k. You know what you have invested till this point. If you have to spend another $3k to get it to the above condition I mentioned, and you sold it. Are you okay that its only still worth about $4k-$5k after those repairs?

Now its up to you. Is it worth it to spend that much on the boat?
