Bleeding small oil lines

I have the carbs off (95 spx) as I am cleaning the fuel filters. I have bought the 3/32 line that I need since my old oil lines are starting to get brittle. I have read how to bleed the lines from the manual (without throttle hold the oil pump wide open and start engine until lines are filled) but can I do this without the carbs being on. I do not see a problem since the carbs being off will not mess with the timing and as long as the spark plugs are grounded I should be good right? I do not want to mess anything up. With the carbs being of it will be easy to tell if the lines are full. Thank you for your help.

I just saw this is in the 2 stroke boat forum. I will start a new thread in the correct place. Sorry guys
