I bought a 1997 GTX and took it out for first ride. I rode for approx. 2 hours. The ski worked perfect and ran great. Performing post ride care, I noticed that there was black fluid that was running down the cylinder walls. Not tons of it, a thin stream and no oil in the hull. . After reading some threads, I took the cap off of 1 of the rave valves and oil was all over the lower portion of the top piece (the piece the spring goes on). I pulled up on the piece and the valve easily moved back down.

I know the person that owned it topped the oil off with seadoo mineral oil. I know your supposed to use full synthetic. I bought the synthetic and attempted to siphon the mineral oil out. No luck, it appears that there may be a screen that stops my hose from advancing.

Is this a serious problem or can I take care of this in the fall? I bought the ski for our family vacation that we take every august and want to make sure I don't have any issues after pulling it 9 hrs one way to our vacation home.

Any ideas? I spoke to the dealer and they said to get it taken care of sooner then later. They are 3 weeks out.

You need new RAVE bellows, gaskets and internal o-rings.

There is nothing preventing siphoning of the oil.

Yes you should be running full synthetic.
