I swapped out the stock 460gph with what I could find, a 500 gph, same brand, requires 12v and 2.5A fuse. Fuses are 3A.

Any suggestions? Always seemed to work before...

Even though it is same brand, could the wires be backwards causing it to blow? It has the same brown and black wires, so I matched them to the original brown and black ones on the plug on the boat.

Never mind...

...I found it.

I wired the bilge pump up backwards, and it dislodged a chunk of beer bottle. Pried it out of the blades and all is working well now. Even realligned the water sensor so it turns off about 15 seconds after the pump stops pulling water...been meaning to do that for a long time.

Don't fix, if aint broke...,

It was tripping the fuse, too. It would spin for a few seconds but only push a dribble of water out, then trip the fuse.

It works now. I think when I pulled it out, that chunk of bottle fell back into the hull, and the new 500gph one picked it right up first thing.

I will keep the 460gph one around for a backup if the 500 goes out or starts to act up. Save me $17 bucks later on...:reddevil:

I was having a similar problem, turned out to be a piece of torn up rag stuck in it. Easy/cheap replacement with a 600gph pump, $20.

I thought it was something else, just didn't believe both would be tripping unless it was a shorted wire or something.

but after finding and removing the chunk of glass, both have worked fine, so it HAD to be that obstruction making them trip.

All worked out OK...the new one works even better than the old one...:hurray:

YUP, Figured that the engine is out, and I am right there, I just bent the mounting tab down about half an inch or so.
