Bilge pump FAIL

So I tested my bilge pump on land using a hose & it worked fine.

Got out onto the lake & took on some water - and then the bilge pump didn't work :( Went to shore & checked things out, it WAS on & straining, but it wasn't pumping water. If I were to guess, I'd say it was stuck on some debris or something.

I disconnected the battery to avoid running it dry (bilge pump on even when boat's off). When I reconnected the battery, the pump started up again & this time it pumped the boat dry in a couple minutes.

I want PEACE OF MIND, especially for when I'm camping & anchored overnight in a windy lake, so I'm pretty disappointed.

Hi, bildge pump usually have an other part witch is a water level sensor.
Probably this part is stuck in open position. Also try cleaning the hose from the pump to the boat side.
It is usually easy to unplug.

I suggest you to do not take any chance and invest a little 50$ over a new pump and pump water level sensor !
