Bilge pump / automatic does not work

you have been so helpful riverluvr. I so wish my boat was in the garage. Anxious to clean it out. Still got to study you posts. I just don't remember seeing 2 holes coming out of the boat as in your last post. I know the bilge pump one, but the other........I don't. hmmm.

is there any kind of a degreaser that can be sprayed down in the pump and sensor area that could help break it up before I try to use a brush?? or is that not a good idea??

Yea, there are industrial degreasers that work really well but I worry some of them might have a detrimental effect to plastics or hoses. I love Castrol Super Clean for getting manky nasty boat bilges spotlessly clean but I always wet the surfaces first so it doesn't get applied directly full strength. I've not found anything that works better and I've tried it all, a close second is any of the cleaners labeled as *Non Skid Deck Cleaner* for boats.

Chase it all out of there with some Dawn detergent, it emulsifies the crud that the Super Clean breaks up and carries it away in the wash water.

I got the boat back today and when I went into look at the sensor it appears mine is different. There is a bracket that is behind the bilge pump that I believe has to be the water sensor. It doesn't look like your though. I could take a picture, but not sure how to get it on here.

Also I would like to clean up the grease down there so I can see things better. Would it hurt it to spray a cleaner down there that breaks up the grease like purple cleaner or something or would that not be good???

WE fixed it!! We figured out where the connection was for the sensor and took it apart and it was pretty corrodid. We cleaned it out and put some some dielectric "stuff" it is and WHALLA.........it worked.

Waterluvr, and others, thank you for your time. This is the best place to save a ton of money. Blessings,

Jmonk

Good Job! Yes, your's is one of the *easy ones* mounted up high on the pump, you get another whole inch of clearance that way to work on it. Glad it's done, go have fun with it now and safe boating to you and your's.
