The '97 GS I recovered from the hurricane last week had no battery in it because it was stored for a few years. Can someone tell me the size (dimensions as well as AH) I need and any great recommendations for brands? Engine is the 718cc.
I will probably have to keep it on a small solar charger to keep it topped up because it's not used daily or regularly.
Thanks.

not sure on the size but make sure it's an AGM sealed battery (absorbed glass mat battery) it will last much longer than regular battery overall the most common now

You want a 16CL-B flooded battery or equivalent. That will get you the correct size and terminals in the correct location.

Flooded and AGM are fine. I have flooded ones last up to 5 years on battery tenders all the time.

Thanks for the info re size..
FYI - not only AGMs last longer and can be discharged deeper, but they won't spill acid if flipped over, same reason they're used for motorcycles.

Try one of the lithium batteries in a motorcycle. I just installed one in my dirtbike and cant believe how small and light it is.
