Hey everybody ! First time post here.

I bought an '03 Seadoo Speedster 240 EFI last July and I love it !

I took out my battery and replaced it with an Optima Blue Top but I've ran into an issue regarding the battery housing compartment.

My old battery was an inch or two taller than the Optima I have now. I went to fasten the battery into place, but the tether on both rods ends before reaching my new battery, so I can't fasten the battery to the mount tightly.

Anybody have any suggestions on how I can fix this problem ?

Thanks !

Here's a picture.

Mine came with a spacer that was about tan inch tall. You need a spacer that will go below your battery. Or, get some tubing from either the auto parts store and the hardware store that will fit over your threaded rod. Remove the nuts, put a washer below and above the tube and put the nuts back on. I would do the tube method as this will still allow for your battery to be within the tray instead of sitting on a spacer that will put the bottom of the battery above the lip of the tray.

Coastie has some good tips. I've also seen a few people just throw some styrofoam under the strap. You can get a replacement, plastic strap at Canadian Tire for pretty cheap. They're thicker than the pipe strapping you've used there, so could make up the difference.

I wouldn't want that nice battery rubbing against that strap for long. If looking for a quick fix, cut you a piece of wood either from a 2x4 or even a 1x4 and put it between top of battery and another kind of strap or hold-down.
