Battery Charging on a 97 GS

I was wondering if anyone uses a quick connect type adapter to disconnect their battery and connect it to a charger?

If not, is is safe to connect the charger to the battery with the leads to the ski still connected?

i use my quick connect from my tender jr, and my optimate.. no issues, no worries,
i never unplug my battery (florida we do't give a chit about offseason down here)
