Bad readings on fuel gauge

Does anyone have their fuel gauge give them different readings showing fuel amount. If you have how did you remedy this problem?

I have noticed with my 2009 180SE , the reading varies significantly if on plane vs docked. I expect any change from a completely level tank will cause a deviation in the readings. Passenger loading/distribution may also have a bearing. What different readings are you experiencing and under what circumstances?

Thanks, one time will read full then 3/4 full and then almost empty and sound alarm. The unit on top of tank is moved at all you get a different reading on gauge

It may be a loose connection - if it opens up completely, you will get the empty alarm. First thing to check is the sender connections on the top of the tank. The manual info posted by Pete63 is the trouble shooting guide. It seems unlikely it is the sender itself, given that it used to work and is not very old. Ohmmeter readings will confirm the sender resistance is matching the tank level. Good luck

My 2008 150 is still new to me, but when it's on a 1/4 tank, you better be close to some fuel. Maybe 3 gal left.
