Attach seadoor to boat while protecting them both

We often sake out the boat (pontoon) and doo together since if we need something it's easier to take the pwc back to the dock. Part of the problem though is rafting them together without them smashing into each other. last year, I got two nice dents in the toons because the pwc smacked into it from waves. We've tried ancors but they are complicated so I'm looking for a better solution. My only idea right now is a rope through a 1" pvc pipe to keep the distance. Bascailly use this on bow/stern of the pwc to keep it away from the boat while still attached.

Anyone have another idea?

Sounds like a good idea. I would use bunjie type rope inside with carabeners on each end. Pull the rope up tight before attaching the second hook so it's always under tension.
