My Speedometer is currently the only gauge not working on my 96xp, and I would like one on there, possibly a more accurate, newer, speedometer. I know your not allowed to post direct links, but could anyone tell me the name of a place I could possibly purchase such a thing? I've looked on ebay and typed in on google but cant find anything.

Thanks for your help.

EDIT***** It won't fit, the bezel is way too big. 2-7/8" is HUGE not enough space Sorry.

The hole in the XP hood (with mirrors) measures 2.050. It's the same diameter, so with a quick blip of a dremel with a drum sander on it and your only removing 0.005 off the plastic, just a bit more than the thickness of a piece of paper.

"Gauge is water resistant from front " good luck w/that.

the OEM one is 100% water proof. I don't know about you, but nothing on my ski, ever stays dry. I think this is an ATV / car speedo...

you need a marine one in the $200-300 range. Else you will have a nice paper weight after a few runs.

There are ways to identify if it's the pickup or the gauge, get a multimeter and report back to us.

I'd replace the OEM stuff with OEM stuff. it may not be GPS accurate, but it's water proof.

check the wiring at the back of the ski, sometimes the speedo just comes loose.

Mine, vs. a GPS is within 2 MPH WOT. So.. really, when they work, they work just fine for me.

Lou you could try to find a 3" gauge, or use a 3" blank and put the 2" into the blank.

Good point on the "waterproof" part. I had a Trailtach that lasted about 3 summers before the water got to it.

Maybe run a bead of silicone over the seams...?

No, the 96GTX gauge is larger.

Added: The speedo from a 96GTI will fit a 96XP.

When you are modding stuff its a real good thing to have an accurate speedo. I DLed a couple apps for my phone Im hoping will even better than a gauge to test with.

ya, i just use the ETREX, and it at least give's me top speed.

they do have some nice app's for smart phones, my tracks, and stuff like that, nav charts, etc.

My countour+2 records GPS data, every 1/2 second.

Crowd sourced. I've mapped over a thousand miles of roads.

Put it on signal test, and drive somewhere!

It will be fun to map waterways this summer. (I'm such a nerd, right)?
