Anyone here ride Dirt bikes or Enduro's?

yep... both the 785 and 1200 are the "Domestic" engines. (black case, and read heads) Fuji's are blue. There was also a 700 twin, and 900 triple.

I have a 1200 domestic in my Genesis. It's a great engine. Quiet, and SUPER smooth. My big Genesis (4 seater) will run 56 to 58 mph with 3 people on it.

Ive heard quite a bit of good stuff bout the red and black domestic engines. You still running stock oil injection? Because ive heard some people say the oil pumps on those are no good but i kinda doubt that. also are they mikuni oil pumps like seadoo uses?

I have also heard good and bad with the blue Fuji. But I know that the engine itself isnt at fault most of the time its the fuel pump and other fuel related issues. do the fuji's use a mikuni oil pump? Overall its got me puzzled of which engine to go with

Yes... I'm using the stock oil injection. It's the same Mikuni pump (more or less) that SeaDoo uses, so it's perfectly reliable. Also, on the Domestic engine, they run the injection oil into the diaphgram/jet section of the carb. This is BETTER for 2 reasons.

1) The oil mixes with the fuel, before entering the engine. (Seadoo just trickles it into the manifold)
2) Since the oil is in the carb... it keeps the carb internals from rusting. That means you can be lazy with your winterizing, and not have problems later.

Speaking of Winterizing... the Polaris Domestic engine is self draining, so you don't have to piss around with putting anti-freeze in it.

The Fuji engines were good... but they had fuel problems. The biggest of them was that the single fuel pump wasn't enough, so the rear cyl could run lean, and you would burn a piston. BUT... if you buy a Fuji powered Polaris, all the issues are known at the point, and they can be addressed. Generally, you install a second pump, and/or change the restrictor size.

I'm not sure what pump the Fuji engines had... but I don't think it was a Mikuni pump.

I think i may have to go with a domstic if i get one of there pwc. there just seems to be an abundance of reasons why. Now i thought that the Fuji's were also self draining? I have to say that is one handy feature about the domestic, a lot less winterizing work but i don't mind doing it on my seadoo lol.

Hey El Toro. I used to ride alot in Laurel Indiana at a place called Haspen acres. Me and my buddies used to run some of the hair scrambles. They had some decent motocross tracks too. You guys are bringing back some great memories. I remember coming home Sunday afternoon with myself and my YZ250 all beat up. I'd unload the bike and the gear, tools, etc. into the garage, limp into the house and swear I was givin' up dirt riding. But by Wednesday my limp and soar ribs would start to go away and I'd be on the phone ordering new pieces for the bike and couldn't wait to get back on it. There was a certain kind of insanity, addiction to it all. Man, I sure do miss it.

I don't remember if the Fuji's were self draining or not. The last one I owned... I was still living in SoCal. We didn't worry about winterizing. Basically, in January, I would put some stabilizer in the fuel, and run it in. (and that's it) Normally, my water toys would only sit for 2 or 3 months, tops. In PA... we get freezing temps, and the skis sit for at least 6~7 months a year, so I now have to worry about a real winterizing.

yea I wish I lived in SoCal. I would be seadooing almost all year! yup here in ontario we get very cold temps also, although this has been such a nice winter...today it was about 70's sooo nice feels like spring

We are old and retired, and recreate a lot. Winter we beat the hell out of a pair of Polaris 500cc Quads. Summer it is the 'Doo's and the boat. On the street we have a pair of Harley Davidson Trikes. Used to have 2 wheel Harleys, but old age set in....
