Any HINTS on GelCoating?

Sounds like it isnt too bad. I read on another board, that they said to cover it with wax paper after you do the repair and smooth over it with a credit card and then it will blend to the area better. Sounds like it isnt too hard. I am gonna order it up. I went to the gel cote site that makes it for BRP. The kit is only 30 bucks but the crooks want 20 to ship it. I'll take pics before and after.

yea wax paper or milar... it will be kinda gewey for a lil bit before it fully cures, it is really cool stuff!!!
watch the 2 part video on you tube it is dead on accurate on gelcoat repairs... the correct way

The kit I bought had a couple sheets of clear mylar, mixing cups, several color tints, sandpaper, and mixing sticks.

There was enough to do my repairs probably 5 more times.

Can't remember if I got it at West Marine or Bass Pro (most likely Bass Pro) but I think it is the same kit.

you can go to gelcoat.com i believeand they have a great kit too and will color match, its like $29.00yea and there is enough in there to mess it up a few times or crunch into your buddies boat once or twice!!!

yeah im getting it direct from gelcote. They are the company that makes it for BRP. It matches factory color. The price of 29 is good but the $20 shipping is kinda high. My local dealer doesnt carry it. They suggested to order direct.

My kit cost around $40 and I had to drive 45 minutes each way to get it, so your price doesn't sound too bad.

Look's good !!! After repair is complete, wet sand with 1000 grit then 1500, then 2000 grit paper. Take a bucket of water add a little dish soap and use that to wet sand. After that follow up with a light polishing compound. The end result will be a mirror finish.
