I have a lager jar with a brush built into the lid. The standard automotive silver/grey in color stuff. It is all I ever use. Any autoparts store has it.

Oh very interesting just read that Chester, and I did just happen to come across a section in my owners manual stating to apply LOCTITE 767 (anti-seize) P/N 293 800 070, when plugs are replaced, 2017 sea-doo operators guide page 115, but I very much value the opinion of a tech who works on these machines......

I always use anti-seize. The NGK recommendation is worthless. Their rationale is that they use a type of plating that acts as anti-seize, but anyone that has worked on Kawasaki engines know that corrosion sets in and the plug is stuck.

I also always use anti-seize. I put Brisk Racing plugs in my 2016 GTR 215 at 20 hours and used it. Just a small dab towards the top of the threads is all you need. Less is more.

Kawasaki spark plugs are small (9mm) and break from over torquing. A lot of them were over tight from the factory. Yes, I do work on Kawasaki too. I've only come across 2 that were a problem. The ones that I do the regular maintenance on never have problems. Do you work on a lot of Kawasakis? What's been your experience?

I don't wrench on other people's skis anymore so it has been awhile since I wrenched on Kawi skis. The ones I had issues were ones that the plugs hadn't been changed in awhile. It doesn't surprise me that you haven't seen it on ones you regularly maintain.

The spark plugs will have some of the SeaDoo preserve oil on them. And they should be changed often enough. The later skis could have a different alloy makeup, different op temp and now may require it. Just don't put any anti-seize on the end two threads.

Steel plugs in a aluminum head its called dissimilar metals. Always use it.

I never do. I've been working exclusively on PWC's for 23 years now and I was an auto mechanic for 18 years before that. No manufacturer ever used it. I also work on a lot of salt water SeaDoos and they never have issues with the plugs. What's been your experience? Have you had problems with plugs?

Chester

Aviation Mechanic 30 years. Just did a quick check and Yamaha says to use anti seize on the jet boats. We use it on all jet engines hi temp anti seize.

Interesting. I've never seen a problem with Sea-Doo, Polaris, Tigershark, Yamaha, or most Kawasaki spark plugs, they all come out easily without anti-seize. I work on a lot of salt water skis. On one Ultra 250, the customer broke off 2 plugs and I had to pull the head. On another one, the plugs were really tight but did come out. The problem with Kawasaki 4-stroke owners is, they over tighten the plugs, not lack of anti-seize. The plugs have a very small thread diameter (9mm) and the torque (with dry plugs) is 115 inch pounds for Kawasaki 4-strokes.
I did look in my Yamaha manuals and I see in some of the 2-stroke manuals, it does recommend anti-seize but not in the 4-stroke manuals.
This is my experience with them. Have you had problems with dry plugs?

Chester

I have always installed the plugs dry and never had an issue. Although in my other life glow plugs always got antisieze.
