An... idea?

OK fellas, lemme know if this sounds utterly ridiculous, but I've been tossing around an idea in my head the last couple of days after I arrived home from a work trip to find my garage keeps getting smaller but my appetite for toys keeps getting bigger.*

I have been wanting a stand-up ski for a while since I traded in my 2 XP's for a 96 Challenger, and since winter is coming and prices are dropping on CL, the opportunity is getting better. BUT, like I said, my garage already has the boat, a Kawa 400 Prairie, a utility trailer, lawn equp, military equip, etc etc. and room for a ski + trailer isn't there. Also, another reason this idea of mine was born was because I wanted a way to have both the boat and ski in the water together, and I can't haul both.*

SO here is my cockamayme scheme. Design a rotating bunk that sits on the swim platform of the Challenger, that can support the weight of a light weight ski (i.e stand up 300sx, js440 etc.) when the bunks are "parked" in the upright position, but can rotate out away from the back of the boat in such a way that the supports rotate out parralel (ish) to the water, with the bunks rotating to keep the ski upright. I drew a pretty shitty sketch of my idea, and I understand its hard to explain through words, but hopefully the picture sketch can help. Notice it is not in any way drawn to scale lol

An old stand up weighs 240-250, so the added weight keeps your speed and occupancy down, but you wouldnt want to go fast with this on back anyway. At least until you can offload it in the water.

This may seem dumb to you folks with more knowledge than me, but I think it's plausible.... maybe? I'll try and draw a better, less messy version if this idea takes hold with a few of you

Is this a 15' challenger or an 18'?

I think that is going to be WAY too much weight hanging off the back. I doubt the boat will plane or ride right. Do you have a 250lbs friend you can have sit back there to see how it rides with the weight (make sure he has a life jacket on).

15'. I was thinking the same thing but it wouldn't need to really plane out, just as long as its in the water, unload the ski, then go ride

All good. Just wondering this should be a boat thread for PWC thread. LOL

I think it's feasible but I would leave out all the mechanical stuff. If you put bunks on the swim deck then you can just manhandle the little ski on and off. By the time your standing on the back doing any lifting you will be right there at water level

The trim on that boat will help it ride right with the weight in different places. My 95 doesn't have it unfortunately.

Why wouldn't you need to plane? Am I hearing this right, you're going to bring them both to the boat ramp, launch them both, then unload the ski and leave the boat at the ramp. Why bring the boat?

Out of curiosity what's the "dumb wife of mine" line on your drawing for?

Unload the boat with ski on it, leave the ramp, and I would offload ski and ride it while wife or whoever follows in boat.

And because she drew something that made no sense lol

OK I gotcha. However that means the boat will be unusable without unloading the ski first, which means you'll have to leave it at the ramp or have the 2nd driver.

I just thought of something else, this will mess up the tongue weight on your trailer. Again you should have a 250 pound guy.....wait scratch that....two 125 pound ladies in bikinis sit on the swim deck and see what your tongue weight is.
