I am very happy to see this. Being in the Fl panhandle puts me closer to the Bama deals then the central Fl ones they usually post.:lurk:

called the dude about the XP in Helena for 150. he said the motor is all there just in parts. So assuming the MPEM is bad and the motor can't be rebuilt so I would have to buy a good core and a MPEM. Would this be something to pursue for personal use. My boys would love to have a matching set of vintage XP's.

I think it's certainly worth the money but just may be a parts support sled at this point. When the motors sit apart like that there is really no chance at a good, non rusted crankshaft to start from.

well as tempting as it is, especially since he is just down the road from me a few miles, I'm probably going to pass on the XP. Obviously this would be a good winter project but I'm planning on putting on a wakeboard tower and sound and light system on my boat this winter as well as some other little things. I frankly don't think I'll have the time to fool with it.

:lols: you would think Jethro could have come up with something better that some gnawed off wood and eye bolts for a "tow bar".

i'm not even sure that would work at all ! i'm still puzzled over that one, looks like it would just snap in half

how is that better ?

Thanks for posting some TN listings! I think I'll try to go look at that spx this weekend. I mean heck, if he takes $800 and it's not just completely beat, I'm in. It's nice to have the gtx's for cruising and pulling, but I needs a faster toy

its not going to be significantly faster, the 96 spx still had the 717 engine. granted it will be faster than a comparable gtx, but its not going to pull that hard.

Guess I should have said it a little differently. I guess the word nimble is better. Top speed isn't a huge deal for me, I just want the less weight and better handling. Of course the 800 would be ideal
