I recently purchased a 1995 Seadoo Speedster. It has twin 657X rotax engines. While preping her for her maiden trip with me I was changinig the oil filters and noticed that one of the oil lines had come disconnected from the filter on the motor side. YIKES! Now after inspecting the rest of oil lines I notice that this engine seems to have a seperate unfiltered feed and return line return oil line from the engine to the tank and the return line has water (clear liquid) in it.
Now I dont know if the previous owner had run it on mixed gas, or If the line came off during the winter. He did run both engines briefly for me before I bought it so I know they work.
I plan on replacing the oil feed lines, and filters. And I will drain what looks like water out of the return line, the oil tank is almost empty and I dont see any water in it. But should I be driaining anything else? I am used to the oil pumps on older Rotax snow machines, but they dont have any seprate feed and return lines going direct to and from the motor... Can anyone tell me what they are for? If I should be doing something else? Or what they would do in my shoes... I really dont want to trash the engines... I need help.
Thanks in advance,
T
