Hello this question is probably going to mostly be directed at seadoosnipe but anyone who has any info it would be appreciated. I am the type of person who likes to drive his stuff as hard as he can without breaking it. That being said I have heard from people that jumping a sea doo to often (so that the impeller is out of the water for a significant amount of time) can be harmful. From what I was told doing this to often can cause excess torque to be applied to the drive shaft and cause it to blow very prematurely. Is there any truth to this ? Second related question is what about when you spin a sea doo out can that be harmful to the drive shaft as well? Obviously riding it harder will cause parts to get loose and more wear but I am asking should I avoid it? In other words will repair be eminent if I do these things often? The sea doo in question is a 97spx.

I agree....

:agree: with Sporsterjoel. What your asking, seems you already know the answer to.

I'd think about it like this. When I rode my dirt bike, I'd take a ramp and when I got to the end of the ramp and went airborne, I'd let off my throttle till I hit ground again. It just seemed logical. There is no torque on the engine so why hold it open.

If your WOT and skimming across waves and the pump momentarily comes un-hooked, like a stone skipping across the top of the water, I'd not worry about that. These things are built to play with.

Turning sharp, spinning it out? If that damages it, then I need to tell my daughters that we can't do that in the boat anymore!....... I do let off the throttle after spinning out though. Once you lose contact with the pump, you could pick up an air pocket and vapor lock it till you let up on it.

Dude, from what your saying, you know the answer. Ride hard but ride like you own it, not renting it.

Okay thanks for confirming what I thought. I hate making expensive time consuming repairs in the middle of summer and just wanted to make sure I wasn't gonna be causing one. Again I had just heard that from another forum and it kept floating around in my head whenever i would be out jumping wakes and what not. I already make sure to let of the throttle a little when I am in the air so it sounds like I'm fine than.
