Hi guys, firstly Im new to the forum and new to Sea Doos. I'm hoping to soon buy an '05 Sea Doo Speedster with the 215 4 Tec engine. I test drove it today and it felt really nice and responsive. Started and stopped it a few times and it did about 55 miles on a very choppy Lake Eildon (Vic Australia). It's in excellent condition and has recently been serviced. It has approx 80 hours on it. As I'm new to Sea Doo's and S/C engines, is there anything I should be aware of before I put down the coin? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Kris.

The only real issue with the early supercharged engines was that they used a ceramic clutch washer in the supercharger. The problem is... they would have a tendency of shattering, and they would send ceramic bits down into the oil, and it could destroy the engine. SO... find out if they have been changed to the newer steel washers.

Also... the Superchargers need rebuilt every 100 hrs. So... find out if they are due for service.

If a dealer does it... it could be +$700. Since you are down in OZ... I would contact your closest dealer and ask.

BUT... you can buy a rebuild kit, with all the special tools, and do it yourself for about $300. Then next time... you will only need the washers and seals. (about $150)
