Abandoned boat question

I live in Michigan and was wondering if anybody can shed some light on in abandoned boat that I just happen to pick up. It's a 2000 cereal challenger 20 foot you can tell it's been abandoned because there's all kinds of debris everywhere and it hasn't been registered since 2011. Is there anybody out there that knows that if there's a chance that I could title this in my name?

States tend to have different laws on "abandoned" property, or in this case, an unregistered no title vehicle.

I'd talk to your local law enforcement office to have them run the tags and number to make sure its on the up and up. From there, you might be able to apply for a lost title depending on circumstances and laws of your state...

Most states will contact the last titled owner and give them the opportunity to get it back. If it was at a shop or storage yard for example, all the fees would have to be paid and then they could take the boat.

If they don't care about it, they will either ignore the letter or contact the PD and tell them they have no interest in it.

They then will help with a title.

The thing was abandoned in an abandoned buildings parking lot. Hasn't been registered since 2011.
