I have a 1996 soeedster with twin 720 rotax pumps. The boat has been in storage with the batteries removed. I have just charged the batteries and installed them. When I insert the key it wont chirp. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Rick

Did you try to start it? The buzzers are known to go bad.

Did you hook up the battery backward? A reverse current will kill the MPEM VERY quick.

Thaks for the quick reply. The batteries were hooked up properly. If I try to start the engines nothing happens. I should get a couple of chirps when i attach the key. If I try to start the engines the dash lights come on and I get a single chirp if I hold the start button down for 10 seconds. What is the MPEM?

The MPEM is the computer that controls most all of the functions on your boat. MPEM is short for Multi Purpose Electronic Module..

The days of trouble shooting with a VOM and a test light are over. The next challange will be finding someone that cn trouble shoot it in my local area

OK... if you get power to the gauges when you push the button... then I'm going to guess that your lanyard post has gone bad. There is a small magnetic switch inside, and they eventually give out.

Thanks for your comment about the magnet swtich. I pulled out the post and shook it and tapped it with the end of a screwdriver and it started to work and now is chirps every time. Just to make sure I am going to order a new one. I don't want it to fail in the middle of a lake.
