I was out on the water the other day and blew the bottom end of the motor apart and did some serious damage. I'm think the ski was running lean. I'm going to put a new motor in and eliminate the oil injection. I was wondering who has the best prices and motors. I'm at the end of the season of riding where I'm from so it's gonna be a fall/ winter project any info on what else to do while I do a whole rebuild would be appreciated thanks !!

More detail of what happened or what you think lead up to the failure would be great. Not sure what you mean by lean, these need water for cooling, fuel and oil in adequate amounts to keep going.

A lot of them die an early death due to carburetor(fuel system) problems.

The oil injection CAN actually save your motor if one carb goes dry that hole still gets oiled by injection vs with pre-mix a dry carb also means no lube and damage.

Still though, the piston can be roasted if it's lean detonating. Detonation (my definition) happens when the fuel stops burning too early (for whatever reason) in the combustion cycle.

You should try to diagnose the root cause of failure to avoid the possibility of the same thing occurring to the new engine right away.

So what failed in this case? If the oil injection caused the problem, maybe I want to go have a look at mine. The small 3/32" ID oil lines will eventually rot and fail thus should be replaced at some point before that happens.

If you don't know the history of the ski. It may of had the top end done a few times or done wrong or cheap. I would replace engine and put a new oil pump and lines on. Premix is a pain and cause too much oil to be burned and fouling of plugs. Pumps rarely fail. It is probably a fuel delivery problem. Carb or carbs were running lean. Rebuild it or them before engine install. used engines are out there too.

My buddy who rebuilds skis just got to me it was the carbs that made it run lean the fuel lines deteriorated and plugged up the carbs and toasted it. I just bought it off some guy who was clueless about skis

Here in Australia owning and maintaining a jetski is for people above povity but mostly guys with more money than sense don't seem to care or think about it on the older ski's, i have a GTX 97 sitting in my yard that is 19 years old and believe it still running grey fuel lines

I haven't been able to check the hours in my Seadoo but for it to have the gray lines it must have been put away for a decade....

Jetski shops over here charge minimum $2250 to rebuild the older 2 stroke Seadoo's most charge around $3000 so i think the mechanics would be competent enough to change the fuel lines unless if my ski was used it has seen a full line of rebuilds

The last blown motor took out the whole motor cases, crank, cylinder, basically the guy i purchased it from had big dreams of buying all the bits and bobs and putting it back together it's a shame he was so close yet so far, he purchased 90% of the parts but had 10% of a clue what to do with it had he gone and done the full rebuild without a doubt he would have ran those grey fuel lines and blown the fresh motor

You have the alcohol in the fuel in your country? They put it in ours, that in theroy, it cuts emisions of pollution.
The alcohol causes the fuel lines to delaminate and clog the filter in carb and fuel selector. The oil pump and lines need replaced, if you get an engine rebuild. Just makes sense to replace them and start with new. You figure, do that and do pump service, wear ring and cone oil repalcement. You have a new Ski for most parts. For 1/4 the money. Repair manuals are available on the Internet for free. We have sites you can order parts for See Doo's. Just ask who you can get parts from.
