Sorry to be such a newbie, but I am having a problem with my '99 GXT Ltd I just purchased.
About the second time I took it out, it would not give the beep acknowledgement when I plugged up the DESS. After bumping the start button, It beeped twice and fired up. It has done that off and on a couple of times, and the other times it does fine.
Today, as I prepared for an outing with my buddy, I decided to fire it up before leaving. Plugged in the DESS and no beep. Bumped the start button and no beep. Called my friend and had him meet me at my house instead of at the dock to help me with the problem. Was spent a long time fooling with it and finally gave up.
I have done:
Checked fuses
The Safety Lanyard Switch verification test (got a reading of .02 with the Lanyard on switch other readings as they should be).
The ski will go into the Advanced Self-Diagnostic Mode.
We even put his DESS Key on with no response.
It just does not acknowledge a DESS key.
I don't know what else to do except take it to the dealership and hope the news isn't bad.
If it is, I won't have much choice other than store it.
Is there anything else to look at here at home?
I am a do-it yourselfer, but I am new at these machines.
My smart-*** dad gave me a call today and reminded me of the two happiest days of boat ownership
